Seminar for 2023 Games briefing and clean sport

On August 18, an event was held at the Social Center, with approximately 200 athletes and officials attending the Indian Ocean Island Games (IOIG). The event was a pivotal moment in ensuring fair and clean competition for the IOIG.

Games briefing- Chef de Mission Abdul Nafiu Thaufeeq

The event kicked off with a welcome address by Mr. Abdul Nafiu Thaufeeq, the Chef de Mission for the Indian Ocean Island Games. He provided participants with important insights into the games, emphasizing the importance of sportsmanship, solidarity, and fair play. He encouraged athletes to give their best and maintain the spirit of healthy competition.

Anti-Doping Seminar Conducted by DCO Rishma

The second part of the event was dedicated to an Anti-Doping Seminar, conducted by Doping Control Officers (DCO) Abdul Nafiu, Inash and Rishma. The seminar aimed to raise awareness among athletes and officials about the critical importance of doping control in sports. Rishma highlighted the detrimental effects of performance-enhancing drugs not only on the athletes' health but also on the integrity of the games. She provided comprehensive information on the prohibited substances and methods, the process of sample collection, and the responsibilities of athletes and officials in maintaining a doping-free competition.

Rishma urged all participants to adhere to the principles of clean and fair play, as any violation of anti-doping rules could result in disqualification and tarnish the reputation of the games. The seminar was interactive, with athletes and officials actively participating in discussions and asking questions, showcasing their commitment to maintaining the highest standards of integrity in sports.
