The Maldives Olympic Committee (MOC) successfully concluded its first Sports Administrators Course for 2026, held from 22 to 24 October 2026 under the Olympic Solidarity programme. The three-day course brought together 20 participants representing 11 National Sports Associations (NSAs), with the aim of strengthening the knowledge and practical skills of sports administrators involved in managing national teams at international sporting events.

The course achieved equal gender representation, with 10 male and 10 female participants. The strong female participation was a particularly encouraging aspect of the programme, reflecting positive progress towards greater inclusion and opportunities for women in sports administration. MOC continues to encourage female participation in its capacity-building initiatives to support the development of women in sports administration and leadership roles.

Conducted under the theme "Team Management for International Games," the course provided participants with comprehensive training on the responsibilities and operational requirements of managing national teams participating in regional, continental and international sporting events.

The programme covered a wide range of topics, including the structure of the Olympic Movement, leadership and professional responsibilities of team managers, effective communication and coordination, and the planning and management of international Games missions. Particular emphasis was placed on the practical aspects of team management, including travel arrangements, accreditation, accommodation, transportation, financial management and reporting requirements.

Additional sessions focused on athlete welfare, health and safety, safeguarding, Olympic values, anti-doping, prevention of competition manipulation, decision-making, conflict resolution and crisis management. Participants also explored media relations, public communication and the importance of maintaining professionalism and accountability when representing the Maldives at international sporting events.

The course incorporated interactive discussions, practical exercises, case studies and group assignments, allowing participants to apply their knowledge to realistic situations encountered during international Games. These activities were designed to strengthen participants' problem-solving abilities and prepare them to respond effectively to challenges that may arise while managing national delegations.

The course was facilitated by MOC Director General Mohamed Jaushan Shareef, Hussain Mohamed and Mohamed Saeed, who guided participants through the various modules. MOC Secretary General Thamooh Ahmed Saeed and Games Executive Mariyam Shaufa also conducted sessions, sharing their knowledge and practical experience in sports administration and international Games operations.

A second Sports Administrators Course is planned for November 2026, continuing MOC's efforts to provide capacity-building and professional development opportunities for sports administrators across the Maldives.
