Yasin Completes Strong Three-Round Performance at Aichi–Nagoya 2026
Sixteen-year-old Maldivian surfer Yasin Ahmed Nashid completed a consistent three-round performance in the men’s shortboard competition at the 20th Asian Games Aichi–Nagoya 2026, recording another score above eight points in the third round.
Yasin was the only member of the Maldives surfing team to progress to the third round. Competing in Heat 3 at Tahara Long Beach in Aichi, he registered 8.44 points against China’s Wu Shidong, who topped the heat with 10.93 points.
The third-round score continued Yasin’s steady performances throughout the competition. He opened the Asian Games with 8.50 points in the first round before winning his second-round heat with 8.13 points. His 8.44-point total in the third round meant that he surpassed eight points in every heat he contested at the Games.
Yasin’s third-round appearance brought the Maldives surfing team’s participation at Aichi–Nagoya 2026 to a close.
