At the ongoing 6th Asian Beach Games in Sanya, China, Maldives’ women’s beach volleyball teams competed in their second round of matches today, continuing to gain valuable experience against strong regional opponents.

Maldives is represented by four beach volleyball pairs at the Games, including two women’s teams: Aiminath Arisha & Fathimath Anaal, and Mariyam Rishfa & Aishath Ishfau Issa.

Both Maldivian pairs faced tough competition in today’s matches. In Pool E, Arisha and Anaal played against Malaysia’s Sing Yee Sin and Rachel Yew Ji, with the Malaysian pair securing victory in straight sets. Despite the result, the Maldivian duo showed determination, particularly in the opening set where they put up a competitive fight.

Meanwhile, Rishfa and Ishfau faced Thailand’s Salinda Munhon and Patcharaporn Sehavong. The Thai pair won the match in two sets, but the Maldivian team displayed improved performance compared to their previous match.

Speaking after the match, Rishfa highlighted the team’s progress, noting that their overall gameplay had improved. She also emphasized that competing at this level provides valuable experience that will contribute positively to their development and future performances.
