MOC President and Secretary General Attend 15th ISSA General Assembly
Maldives Olympic Committee (MOC) President Mohamed Abdul Sattar and Secretary General Thamooh Ahmed Saeed represented the Maldives at the 15th General Assembly of the Islamic Solidarity Sports Association (ISSA), held in Taif, Saudi Arabia, from 11 to 13 September 2026.
The Assembly addressed several matters concerning ISSA’s activities and governance. Delegates reviewed the final report on the Riyadh 2025 Islamic Solidarity Games and preparations for the next edition, to be held in Malaysia in 2029. They also considered proposed amendments to the Association’s Statute and approved its 2025 audit report.
The election of ISSA’s Executive Board for the 2026–2029 term was another principal item of business. Following the presentation of the Electoral Commission’s report, the Board was confirmed by acclamation, with Prince Abdulaziz bin Turki Al Faisal Al Saud retaining the presidency. The newly constituted Board then convened its first meeting to consider priorities for the term ahead.
The proceedings also included recognition of outgoing Executive Board members for their service. Alongside the leadership transition, the Assembly addressed the composition of the Athletes’ Commission for the 2026–2029 term, placing athlete representation among the matters considered for ISSA’s next four years.
