Fathimath Shaliya to Participate in International Coaching Course in Budapest

Maldivian football coach Fathimath Shaliya departed for Hungary on 5 October 2026 to participate in the International Coaching Course (ICC) Fall Session 2026.

The eight-week course will be conducted at the Hungarian University of Sports Science in Budapest from 7 October to 26 November 2026. Shaliya will undertake the football specialisation, one of seven sporting disciplines offered during the Fall Session.

Her participation is supported through the Olympic Solidarity programme. The ICC combines academic learning with practical coaching experience and is designed to strengthen the theoretical, technical and practical knowledge of coaches working with developing and elite athletes.

Throughout the course, Shaliya will study key areas of coaching and sports science, including training methodology, sport psychology, sport pedagogy, exercise physiology, sport nutrition, injury prevention, biomechanics, sport analysis, ethics and sport management. The programme also includes practical coaching sessions conducted under the guidance of qualified lecturers, coaches and sports science specialists.

Established in 1971, the ICC has trained coaches from across the world and continues to support the development of coaching expertise through internationally recognised education and practical experience. Participants who successfully complete the programme will receive a Certificate of Completion from the Hungarian University of Sports Science.

Shaliya’s participation provides an opportunity to further strengthen her professional coaching expertise and gain knowledge and experience that can contribute to the continued development of football coaching in the Maldives.
