Sajid and Naseem Take on Iran in Asian Games Beach Volleyball
Ismail Sajid and Adam Naseem represented the Maldives in the men’s beach volleyball preliminary round at the 20th Asian Games Aichi-Nagoya 2026, taking on the Iranian pair of Abolhassan and Amir Ali.
Iran secured the match in straight sets at Hekinan Ryokuchi Beach Court, recording scores of 21–12 and 21–14.
Having faced a difficult opening set, Sajid and Naseem responded with a stronger performance in the second. The Maldivian pair matched their opponents during the early exchanges and kept the contest level before Iran pulled ahead midway through the set to complete a 2–0 victory.
Attention will next turn to the women’s preliminary round, where Aminath Areesha and Fathimath Anaal will represent the Maldives against the Philippines. The match is scheduled for 05:00 hrs Maldives time.
