Maldives Regroup in Second Set Against Hong Kong
The Maldives women’s beach volleyball pair of Aminath Areesha and Fathimath Anaal produced an improved second-set performance against Hong Kong in their second group-stage match at the 20th Asian Games Aichi–Nagoya 2026.
Competing at the Hekinan Ryokuchi Beach Court, the Maldivian pair faced Hong Kong’s Wing Man To and Wing Tung To. Hong Kong controlled the opening set and secured it 21–2.
Areesha and Anaal responded with a more composed display in the second set, finding greater rhythm and offering stronger resistance. The Hong Kong pair nevertheless maintained their advantage, taking the set 21–9 to complete a 2–0 victory.
The Maldives women’s team will conclude its group-stage schedule against Mongolia on 26 September. Before then, the men’s pair of Ismail Sajid and Adam Naseem will face Bangladesh in their final group match on 24 September.
