MOC Meets with UNICEF Maldives and ARC to Advance Nationwide Implementation of Child Safeguarding Policy
The Maldives Olympic Committee (MOC) held a meeting with UNICEF Maldives and ARC to discuss the nationwide implementation of the MOC Child Safeguarding Policy, reinforcing a shared commitment to ensuring that sport remains a safe, inclusive and supportive environment for every child.
The meeting focused on strengthening collaboration between the three organizations to support the implementation of the policy across the Maldives through coordinated stakeholder engagement, capacity building initiatives and the development of practical safeguarding mechanisms within the sporting community. Discussions also explored opportunities to work together in raising awareness, strengthening safeguarding practices and supporting National Sports Associations and other key stakeholders in embedding child safeguarding principles into their activities.
The MOC launched its Child Safeguarding Policy in 2022 as part of its commitment to promoting the safety, wellbeing and rights of children participating in sport. Building on this foundation, the proposed nationwide implementation aims to further strengthen safeguarding systems by engaging partners across the country and ensuring that safeguarding measures are effectively integrated throughout the sports sector.
The meeting was attended by Dr. Edward Addai, UNICEF Representative to the Maldives; MOC Secretary General Thamooh Ahmed Saeed; Zenysha Zaki, Founder of ARC; and Aminath Iyan Adil, Programme Manager at ARC.
