The Maldives Olympic Committee (MOC) successfully conducted a series of Safeguarding Awareness Seminars on 8 July 2026 at the Social Centre Haruge as part of its ongoing commitment to promoting safe, inclusive and athlete-centred sporting environments.

The seminars brought together representatives from National Sports Associations (NSAs) through separate sessions tailored to different stakeholder groups. Dedicated sessions were conducted for NSA management, including executive officials, administrators, coaches and technical officials, as well as athletes and parents/guardians. The separate format ensured that the content addressed the specific roles, responsibilities and safeguarding obligations of each group.

The sessions focused on raising awareness of safeguarding principles, recognising the shared responsibility of protecting athletes, and strengthening understanding of best practices for creating safe and supportive sporting environments free from abuse, harassment and neglect.

Through these seminars, the Maldives Olympic Committee reaffirmed its commitment to embedding safeguarding across the national sporting community and working closely with National Sports Associations to ensure that the welfare, safety and wellbeing of every athlete remains a priority.
