Maldives Open Athletics Competition in Men’s 100m
The Maldives began its athletics competition at the 20th Asian Games Aichi–Nagoya 2026, with Hassan Saaid and Ibadulla Adam representing the nation in the men’s 100-metre heats at the Mizuho Park Athletics Stadium.
Ibadulla delivered the strongest individual improvement of the day, completing Heat 1 in a season-best time of 11.06 seconds. Competing in a seven-athlete field, he crossed the line in sixth place. The 24-year-old sprinter also represented the Maldives in the men’s 100 metres at the Paris 2024 Olympic Games.
Saaid competed in Heat 5 and recorded a time of 10.85 seconds, finishing sixth in a field of six athletes. The experienced sprinter remains the Maldivian national record holder in the event, having established the benchmark of 10.33 seconds.
The men’s 100 metres marked the opening event for the Maldivian athletics team at Aichi–Nagoya 2026.
The Maldives will return to the track on 27 September for the men’s 400 metres, scheduled to begin at 5:40 p.m. Maldives time.
