Maaidh and Eesha Set New Mixed Team National Record at Asian Games
The Maldives continued its record-breaking performances in shooting at the 20th Asian Games Aichi–Nagoya 2026, as Ahmed Maaidh Mohamed and Aishath Eesha Shaheed established a new national record in the 10-metre air rifle mixed team event.
Competing at the Aichi Prefectural General Shooting Gallery, the Maldivian pair recorded a combined score of 617.6 points, improving the previous national mark by 16 points.
The former record of 601.6 points was held by Ibrahim Shifan and Aishath Yooha Imthiyaz, who achieved the score at the 2025 Asian Cup shooting competition in Bangkok, Thailand.
The mixed team result adds to an impressive sequence of national records for the Maldives shooting contingent at Aichi–Nagoya 2026. Both Maaidh and Eesha have also established new national records in their respective men’s and women’s 10-metre air rifle individual events during the Games.
The Maldives will continue its shooting programme tomorrow in the 10-metre air pistol event.
