Maldives Test Hosts Japan in Men’s Beach Volleyball
The Maldives men’s beach volleyball pair of Ismail Sajid and Adam Naseem delivered a competitive opening to their second match at the 20th Asian Games Aichi–Nagoya 2026, challenging host nation Japan at the Hekinan Ryokuchi Beach Court.
Facing Japan’s Kota Kurosawa and Taito Mizumachi, the leading Maldivian pair remained level with their opponents throughout the early stages of the opening set. The Japanese pair, however, gradually established an advantage and secured the set 21–15.
Kurosawa and Mizumachi carried that momentum into the second set, taking it 21–11 to complete a 2–0 victory.
Attention will next turn to the Maldives women’s pair of Aminath Areesha and Fathimath Anaal, who will face Hong Kong in their second match of the competition tomorrow at 5:00 a.m. Maldives time.
